LOL! and my new favorite youtube site
First, see this halloween costume?

Photobucket

There's a bit of controversy over it. Here's the article.

I seriously think people have a major stick up their ass. I remember doing something like this when I was in junior high. It was funny.

I lived in southern California then and there was the same problem with immigration then as there is now. I don't think anyone was offended, and that included my best friend and her family who happened to be Mexican.

What's your take on it? You can state whatever you want. I won't bite your head off. I just want to hear someone else's opinion on it.

And on a lighter note (or not, depending on what you think of horror anthologies), I just discovered FEWDIO.com. Here is their youtube channel.

The shorts run anywhere between one and a half minutes to just a little over six. (one, titled 'Marie' runs for about 11 minutes).

It's just a little bit of 5 minute heaven (well, hell, to be truthful) in every short. some are dumb and some are brilliant.

This one is one of my favorites, just for the last line alone (the punch line if you will). Oh, and check out the cthulhu statue on her nightstand at 4:13. LOL!

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but I am actually not a fan of gore. I like a good suspense mixed in with my horror and then the punchline to be hard hitting. Some of these shorts understand that and rely on that and it works. Some don't and they fall flat on their face. And some have to have just a wee bit of gore in them in order to convey what is going on. The ending just makes me laugh at the irony of the conversation she had just had.

I lived in Oceanside, CA when I was growing up and I remember the problems with immigration and the less than kind treatment of immigrants as well. That being said, I didn't think this was offensive towards immigrants so much as mocking the term itself, which let's face it, is pretty ridiculous.

See? That's what I thought. I was like, 'it seems to me they're [Target or whomever made the costume] was mocking the term alien, not the immigrants themselves.'

At least, that was what I was doing back then and people got it. And I was only 12. :P

I actually think it's a pretty funny costume, but then, I adore Men in Black. *g* It wouldn't even dawn on me to relate it illegal immigration over the southern border. But then, I'm a Canadian/Australian living in Australia, so I guess it wouldn't, would it? Pay no attention to my babbling... I'm just a bit wired today. *g*

Okay, why are you wired?

And yeah, I think it is funny. I wish people would lighten up. LOL!

BTW, speaking of Doyle and Brody (not that we were, but I noticed your icon), I looked the boys up. I just realized that Martin Shaw played Detective Dagliesh in one of my favorite BBC detective movies, 'Death in Holy Orders.' He was cute when he was younger. :)

People definitely need to lighten up, that's for sure. Seriously, sometimes they take pc to the extremes of the ridiculous!

I'm always willing to speak about Doyle and Bodie! *g* Yeah, Martin Shaw was one hot stud muffin when he was younger. He's still a very handsome man.

I haven't seen the Detective Dagliesh ep... it's on my list, though. *g* I've been gorging myself on Judge John Deed and George Gently.

Why am I wired? All the birthday goodies being posted for me. *g*

Oh! Happy Birthday liriel!

*smooches and hugs you*

I should write you an Orlibean. And one in the Halloween tradition.

He is very handsome in that episode.

thank you! But seriously, you really don't have to write me a fic. I've been kind of not around much what with a few little dramas going on in RL, so I'm really kind of overwhelmed with the way people have responded to my birthday.

Of course, if you really feel you must, I definitely wouldn't knock a spooky Halloween fic back. *g*

He's just very handsome. *sighs dreamily*

Well I was going to write something anyway. LOL! *looks sheepish*

Sorry about the dramas in RL. That sucks.

I just have such a thing for British men. Megan, my 18 year old daughter does too. And I love the movies from the 70's and 80's. They looked so cool and mod in their clothes and sportscars. I would love to see Orlando in one of two types of films.

Either A) a psycho or sociopath. Seriously, I think it could help further his career.

Or kill it.

Or B) in a retro 70's spy type movie. Bell bottoms and big sunglasses and mod hair cuts. Oh yeah...

LJ really doesn't give enough notice of birthdays to be able to write anything, do they?

Nah, it's all good now. I only have three weeks left of work and then I'm taking the summer off. Yay! I'll look for a new job in the new year.

Mmm, yes. British men do it for me and I cannot stress how much I love the way the jeans fit back in the 70's (Orlando! Take note! Look at Doyle! THAT is how you wear a pair of jeans! *g*)

I have a deep love for the older style cop shows and I adore The Professionals - it's miles ahead of Starsky and Hutch without even half trying!

Oh yeah! I would totally love to see Orlando playing a deranged bad guy! I'd also like to see him do more comedy like Calcium Kid. He's got a talent for comedy and it's not being utilized enough.

If you put Orlando in a pair of 70's style jeans, I may just expire in a puddle of drool! LOL

Not just the jeans but the body hugging button up shirt too - with the first 4 buttons undone. And one of those chokers.

*melts in a puddle with you*

You mean like this?

Apologies for it being so big, but... not really, you know because it's just too yummy to make smaller!

Mariaslave_o_spike on October 18th, 2009 03:07 am (UTC)
LOL! Yes. That's it.

You perv! :P
liriel1810: armed and cuteliriel1810 on October 18th, 2009 03:08 am (UTC)
*giggle* Who me?

Guilty as charged, your honour.
