You know you're too heavily into slash when...
You know you're too heavily into slash when you go to your daughter's Kindergarten Curriculum Night and when the sweet Kindergarten teacher brings the two hand-puppets out - Impulsive Puppy and Slow-down Snail - that the first thing you want to say to the person sitting next to you is 'Oh you know Impulsive Puppy is so the top in that relationship!'

*rolls eyes*

Remember the good ole days of Spangel and the many stories of puppet!porn?

Remember the icon sueworld made of a puppet!Spike? So cute.

And no! I refuse to do Impulsive Puppy/SlowDown Snail slash.

Spangel!puppets my other OTP. Or is it the same since it's still the same characters? Hmm...

The puppet!porn fandom is still alive and kicking, a wonderful writer called nyghtpet is working on a puppet!Angel series. So funny.

And no! I refuse to do Impulsive Puppy/SlowDown Snail slash.
Dammit! *g*

That's a great "parent remark"!

I hate these overly pretentious things the school does - it's Fucking Kindergarten for Godsake! Going over their learning experience! Pfft!

They actually had to have one of those overhead thingsmabobs to show the different kinds of writing you'll find your child doing through the year. We have 3 K teachers this year to keep the classes small and the 'cute' teacher actually had to explain to the parents not to expect too much right off the bat. Parents have to be told this!

Of course she said that parents of older kids probably already know this and at that my daughter's K teacher (who is much older) looked at me over the rim of her glasses.

Yeah I know. Oh I know...

OMG--I never did that when I was teaching...
you did say this was kindergarten. *rolls eyes*

First off, I meant nothing deragatory towards the teachers (I really like the teachers and the staff at my kid's school - they catch things quick and have always been there for me) - I have the utmost respect for the people that have to deal with kids on a daily basis but...

Yeah, they had to do this in Kindergarten! Can. You. Believe. It?

I mean really. The parents in my neck of the woods are kind of a strange yuppy lot. Quite a few of them are people with more money than sense (probably a good percentage MicroSoft techies and execs) and their rich, overly-pampered wives. They expect perfection in everything and I've seen these people - they push their kids to excel at such a young age!

Me? I let them play and have fun and then start them in school in Kindergarten. My daughter is still struggling writing her name - that's fine. I know she'll get it one day.

You're the kind of mom that I treasured when teaching. No reason kids should grow up too soon.
Maria: Neil Mysterious Skinslave_o_spike on September 21st, 2006 12:55 am (UTC)
My 15 year old daughter was behind in everything all the way through 3rd grade and some of the mothers questioned me on it. I didn't push - I just made sure she did her homework and stayed current with her studies.

She's a Sophmore in High School and has a 3.95 GPA and is already contemplating career choices and schools.

Let them grow at their own pace I say.

private school
For 6 years my kids went to a very competitive private school. The reason I sent them there was that I was not crazy about Portland Public schools. The staff was wonderful, supportive, caring, and really wanted to help the kids learn. The parents on the other hand. Holy fucking crap. You would have thought all of these rich/useless/overamped/underfed/competitive women were showing dogs not sending their kids to school. It was amazing. I was always an outsider as a single mom (hehehe my fundraiser kicked their fundraiser so high in the ass they still havent found their heads)and I refused to get sucked into their warped world.

My son really struggled with reading there for a bit. My daughters always did very well, especially my middle child(she wants to go to Oxford ugggg can anyone say too far away from Mommy. My son had fantastic teacher that helped me help him, other parents were like OMG Alex is not reading at a fourth grade reading level yet...I was like fucking bite me, bitch, my son is in Kindegarten and learning how to read and is still a little boy, he jumps in puddles, plays with sticks and watches PBS, so fuck off.

The kicker is that even though Alex was not reading yet, when they tested him in the first grade he understood and utilized words at an 8th grade reading level...and he tests in the 99th percentile now in almost all subjects....thanks to patient caring teachers, and letting him learn when he was ready.

Hehehe when I pulled my kids from private school (I could not handle the parents any more, the school was not about education but elitism)the principal was devestated. He still calls me every year asking if Alex and Kaity will be back...I kindly and politely tell him no.

ok so my diatribe has a point: let your daughter play, do her thing, scribble and well in general be a little girl....the world can wait a bit for her genius to be disovered.

Re: private school
Exactly! God, you live so close to my sis-in-law in Silverton - she is the exact opposite! She made such a big deal about getting her daughter into Kindergarten even though she wouldn't turn 5 until November! She made this huge fuss and got her in because she said she had worked with her since she was 2 using flashcards (which she did).

Her daughter hates her at this point - she lies to her, she resents her - the list goes on and on.

Did she learn her lesson? Hell no, she did it with her two other boys then (not getting them in early but the whole flashcards thing and you know the drill). She keeps doing things to impress people and then she gets upset because she can't seem to impress me, no matter what she does.

Maybe someone should give her some money to go buy a clue...:P

Jackass 2
I saw Jackass at midnight last night and laughed my butt off, but it is arguably the most queer movie ever made. It's the stuff slasher's dreams are made of! In one seen they're launching a golden dildo at Bam Magera's bare ass, and the whole thing ends like some huge musical with a choregraphed dance scene.

I don't know if I could watch that movie, but yeah, that's about where I'm at. I see two guys on screen and I'm thinking, 'oh it would be so hot if they were to...'

Sweetie, did you see the message on bjficsite? Do you think it's safe to go onto the website or do you think it got hit with another virus?

Re: bjficsite
I actually just went on and I think its safe now. Cael would let everyone know right away if it was a virus or she would make the site inaccessible to everyone.

You should be okay. How've you been by the way?
