MY NEW COMMUNITY!!!!!
So I started a new community. It's based on the same premise as qaf_marathons.

I'll announce a horror movie (very 70's or 80's type movie with not as much slice and dice - no Jason or Freddy here and movies like Saw and Hostel are too new and too gory), tell you where to find it and watch it. Then I'll throw some questions are there, you answer them and a discussion will ensue.

See?

The community is called the_other_slash.

I'm thinking of finding the movies on youtube and leading people there. That way, for people who can't just go out and rent horror movies, they'll have access to the movie.

I won't be assigning wonderful movies like Spider Baby that's hard to come by or The Mad Room which is not to be found ANYWHERE.

So come join if this sounds like something you want to do. Pimp it around to your friends - maybe one of them will want to join.

It's all in good fun!!!!

This was a great movie made in 1968 and starred on Chaney Jr. It was so different! And it was perfect. Funny yet chilling and there's a scene in there with Lon Chaney where you just feel for him.

It's about a family where the kids at the age of 10, regress until they're beyond children and become savage. Lon Chaney is the old family caretaker who takes care of the 3 'children.' Problems ensue when two family members (an aunt and their uncle - the woman's brother) come with the aunt's attorney and his assistant to proclaim the children unfit and then have them committed. Then they can step in and take the money. The uncle is actually a sweetheart and he falls for the assistant. The lawyer is typical and the aunt is a money-grubbing witch.

The things that go on! Oh God. Dinner with a dead cat that the son caught and grass for the salad. It was just perfect! But it's hard to find to rent. critic75 was so interested, she bought the DVD on Amazon.com.

The Mad Room is entirely perfect and it bothers me that it can't be found anywhere (not on DVD nor VHS). It stars Shelley Winters and Stella Stevens and is so creepy, it always chilled me when I saw it on tv when I was a kid.

Spider Baby sounds perfectly delicious! I'm just as interested and will look into buying it like critic75.

I love Shelly Winters and would love to see this one day - for some reason I'm reminded of Whatever Happened to Sweet Baby Jane.

If you buy it, let me know!!!!

It has the same creepiness as Whatever Happened. I could write essays on this movie. I seriously want to write a thriller with Brian and Justin based on this movie.
