A question for those who read my fic and Lotr and Potc caps
The flooding here in Washington state is over. Thank Fuck for that! Whew! Our road didn't flood this time but school was closed for three days because 3 of the schools in the district were surrounded by flooded roads and those 3 schools account for over 40 percent of the district (one of them being the high school that serves the whole valley).

So the kids were stuck inside and Rowan decided to get into a movie watching marathon.

Guess what she picked?

She decided (remember, she's 7) since Griffon played the Lord of the Rings PS2 game at night, and she liked it, she wanted to see all THREE movies. That's count em, TWELVE hours of my favorite guys.

TWELVE hours.

When I asked Rowan what she liked about the movies, she said, 'I like the elves and Frodo's house and the hobbits and Arwen and Legolas.'

Well, of course she did, she's my little girl.

She said Legolas is pretty...like a princess. :P

Well, he is! (*winces*)

But not like a princess. It's just the hair...

Of course, Griffon came to the elf's defense by saying that Legolas was way cool. He then proceeded to tell me how our fair haired prince of Mirkwood brought down the troll himself and the oliphant and single-handedly killed like a 1000 orcs.

I guess there's a bit of OrlandoLegolas worship going on in our house. LOL!

I watched them with them and I have to say one thing. I so love these movies (and not just because of the eye candy) but because anyone who would take on filming the books had to be creative and dedicated. It was such an ambitious thing to take on and Peter Jackson did such a wondrous job.

Here are some screen caps of the movie (taken from the OB Files site):

Our lovely elf at Elrond's council, where he vehemently stood up for Aragorn to Boromir and basically told the man from Gondor that he should bow down before Aragorn and swear his allegiance.

Put a whip and some long black patent leather boots on the elf and you have a fine dominatrix. :)

And here's Legolas telling Eomer (at gunarrow point) he'll skewer anyone who touches his man or dwarf. :P

Legolas taking down that nasty oliphant. Griffon is correct - waaay cool. :)

And here's the end of the Return of the King where Legolas meets up with the new king Aragorn. Of course what we don't hear is ViggoAragorn telling Orlithe elf to help him ditch Arwen because he has some lovely toys he wants to show him down in the dungeon. :P

And then if that wasn't enough, Rowan decided that when the Lord of the Rings marathon was over, she would start in on a pirate marathon. :P

She loved everything about the movies because it was fun but she did mention how cute Will Turner was.

I guess it's the sort of thing that runs in the blood.

But then look:

How can you not?!?!

From the Curse of the Black Pearl. God! I love his facial expressions!

And from Dead Man's Chest:

I know there are people who didn't like the second movie, but come on! What's not to like?!?

You had Will almost being eaten! And Will being flogged. And you had the krakken (I have a bit of a vore fetish if you couldn't tell). And Will in boots! (It sounds like a strange parody of the Grimm classic Puss n Boots).

And Will in various stages on being tied up or in shackles...

Where was I?

One last thing.

I wrote a story. It's dark.

Yeah, I know, what that I write isn't?

But it has a dark religious theme and I'm not sure how it'll be received. Should I just post it unlocked, and not worry about what anyone says, you know, my skin is pretty thick as it is, or should I post it locked so people won't be offended by it.

And I don't care if you read my Orlibean or just my Qaf fic. I want to know what you think regardless.

It's an Orlibean. It's even darker, at least IMO, than the one about them being sociopathic murderers doing hard time.

I know, I'm a sick puppy.

Legolas and Will are both so pretty! *happy sigh*

I'm not sure if I should tell you to lock it or not, sweetie. I can tell you that I won't read it as I shy away from any religous themes. They don't offend me as much as make uncomfortable.

*squishes and loves*
Maria: raining treeslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 12:45 am (UTC)
I don't think there are any characters that are prettier than them. *sighs with you*

Yeah, religious themes tend to be uncomfortable, I agree. I had such a HUGE Catholic upbringing that I tend to write certain aspects into my stories sometimes. Horror stories didn't bother me as much when I was young, but some of the things I learned about exorcisms and the strange case of stigmata scared the hell outta me.

Rowan has very good taste, what can I say?

I'm not easily offended. Couldn't you just put a warning on it, that should be enough to let people know what to expect?
Maria: Orlando Bloom PoTC AWEslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 12:46 am (UTC)
She has INCREDIBLE taste! LOL!

When Megan was young and she first watched LotR, she had a crush on him too. :)

I think I shall just go with the warning. If people are offended and they write to me as such, that's okay too. I just need to make it abundantly clear. :) Thank you!!!
shadownycshadownyc on November 18th, 2008 12:39 am (UTC)
I think as long as you place a "warning" in your heading about "possibly offensive religious slurs" or whatever it is, then you can post however you'd like.
Maria: Shadow catslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 12:51 am (UTC)
I am going to go with the warning. I just don't want to get into locking fics as of yet. :P

And look. *points to icon* 'shadow' Get it? :)

I know, I'm such a geek...

12 hours? *sighs* What love! And I love LOVE dark stories, specilly with bean in them :D
Maria: Sean Bean slave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 12:48 am (UTC)
Yep, 12 hours!!!

It was wonderful! And then then Will love began ( couple days later but still...)

It's dark and you should like. :)
Gigi: POTC - Will Profilegiselleslash on November 18th, 2008 12:59 am (UTC)
Leggy and Will are definitely the prettiest *g*

I swear, I don't think Orlando will ever look hotter than he did in 'At World's End'...the hair, the tanned chest, the perpetual wetness and tied-upness *dies*...oh, and the Bandanna of Hotness??? *swoons* Death clearly does the body good ;P

I think you should be just fine if you put a warning on it, honestly if people can't read a warning it's not your job to hold their hand for them. We're presumably all grown ups here *g* I know I'm certainly looking forward to it.
Maria: Orlando Bloom PoTC heroic Willslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 01:09 am (UTC)
The prettiest in aaaaalllll the land...LOL! Fuck, if Rowan had a Legolas doll, she'd want to braid his hair. :)

Guh! When OrlandoWill came out of the water at the helm of the Dutchman - I think I swooned.

No, I'm sure of it.

I swooned.

I fucking swooned.

And of course when we left the theatre, Griffon and I were talking excitedly about how cool was it when OrlandoWill came out of the water. And when he nuzzled Elizabeth's knee...

I was past swooning and swearing my first born to him (of course, my first born is 19 and wouldn't consider that a hardship).

I think you're right. We are adults here (at least, I hope so - sometimes I don't know). I think you'll like it. But people might have an issue with it.

Thanks Gigi!!! :)

Still here!
Vikgolden_helikaon on November 18th, 2008 03:10 am (UTC)
I wouldn't be offended by the fic, and I agree with someone else who said you should just put a warning on it. If they still read it after seeing the warning and get offended then really, its their own fault.
Maria: Maria's worldslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 04:37 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'm just going to put a warning there. I just talked to my beta who will be going over it and when I told her the story, she said that it shouldn't offend anyone, but then she liked those kinds of stories. :)
rosy5000: Brian Laptoprosy5000 on November 18th, 2008 03:40 am (UTC)
Legolas definitely is a pretty, pretty man. Between him and Aragorn... I was a very happy girl watching those movies. ;D

And Will... Especially at the end of "At World's End", when he was at the wheel of the Flying Dutchman... just... GUHHHHH!!!!!! *drools*
Maria: Orlando Bloom PoTC heroic Willslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 04:36 am (UTC)
Him, Aragorn AND Boromir. Ahhh....

I was just saying to Gigi that that scene was the only scene I think I ever swooned on. Yeah, I know, me, swooning! LOL!

He is so GUH at the end of AWE. The bandana of love, the knee nuzzling, coming out of the depths of the deep at the helm of the ship...

*goes to watch AWE*
simplyshanni on November 18th, 2008 06:47 am (UTC)
Hi hon! It was fun chatting with you earlier! We're done with the movie marathon at my house too, though we didn't get to watch 12 hours of LOTR (darn it!). We watched Iron Man, National Treasure (at least it had Beanie, and he was SO gorgeous in that movie!), then of all things, Toy Story (a tradition for my nearly 25 year old daughter near her birthday, as we took her to see it in the theaters for the first time on her birthday when she was little). We were finished in 6 1/2 hours instead of 12, though!

Lovely, lovely picspam! Legolas and Will have GOT to be two of the most gorgeous characters in all of moviedom (yeah, I've decided that's a word!), and the entire LOTR trilogy definitely makes the top 10 list for my favorite movies of all time! I couldn't agree more with you that Peter Jackson was absolutely brilliant! The scope of what he accomplished just amazes me, and I NEVER get tired of watching them!

As for your new fic, I can't wait to read it, so send it my way and I'll get it betaed for you as quickly as possible. I think putting a strong warning on it would be a wise move, and it should also be enough. If people are given a fair warning, then it's their responsibility if they go ahead and read it anyway. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you!

Maria: BJ - 314 is loveslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 09:54 pm (UTC)
I loved talking to you too! I like the first Natl Treasure movie too (the second one was a bit muddled) and it had Bean. Who doesn't love Toy Story? I even wrote a crack fic based on some McDonalds toys and Brian and Justin. LOL!

Moviedom is a word, just like shitload and buttload. The movies (the Lotr) is so beautiful and brings the books to life so well. They're perfect. I just wish PJ could have followed all that up with his other movies but I'm sorry - King Kong was a snooze fest. I think those 3 movies will always be his swan song. But oh what a song! :)

I've sent the fic your way this morning. And yes, I'm putting a warning on the thing. But there will still be people who read it just to get offended. Fine, so be it. :)

*hugs you tightly and send love down south your way*
Create Your Realitycourt1429 on November 18th, 2008 07:28 am (UTC)
If I admit that I've never seen the LOTR or POTC movies, will you still talk to me...? ;)

I say post it with a strong warning that there are dark religious themes that may be disturbing or offensive to some readers and caveat reador!

Yay for no personal flooding and a good day's worth of pretty men!
Maria: Jaws - We need a bigger boatslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 09:50 pm (UTC)
Pfft! Not one of them?!?!?

I still love you hon! *hugs* But you should see them!!!

I am. You know, I really should know better than to be scared to post anything anymore. LOL!

Yes! Yeah for pretty men!!!!! (In period dress)

Where was I? Oh yeah, Blacksmith!

What? Who? Where? Oh... right, sorry. *tries to focus*

hmmm, well, let's see, I didn't really think your psychopathic murderers fic was that bad... guess I'm willing to give it a go, but if you kill teh pretty, I shall cry buckets and you'll have to make it up to me! *smooches*

P.S. Your kids have excellent taste in movies, and I heartily concur... Peter Jackson is a fucking genius! (but I totally want to lynch Ted, Terry, and Gore for killing Will)
Maria: Orlando Bloom PoTC heroic Willslave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 09:48 pm (UTC)
I know!!!! *pets the pretty elf*

*pets the pretty Captain's boy toy blacksmith*

I won't be killing any of teh pretty (please!) but people might have an issue with it. I think you'll like it though. :)

PJ is a genius! Yes, it was sad that they killed Will, but he was so hot when he emerged from the Flying Dutchman!!!! *sighs*

I would say, if you don't want to be bothered ,flock it.Otherwise, just go with it but take at heart any angry comments...I definitly want to read it !!!Aida. ps: it's so american, wondering if u're gonna offend anyone with a religious theme.Fascinating...
Maria: Baby!Orli (Underage)slave_o_spike on November 18th, 2008 09:44 pm (UTC)
I'm not gonna flock it. I decided.

And you're right. I'm just gonna deal with anything anyone says - hell! I did when I wrote the cannibal thing and Justin's Baby.

As for the religious thing? Yeah. It is an American thing. We seem to apologize for absolutely everything now! LOL! Religion is an extremely touchy subject here which is too bad since its history and teachings are so fascinating. I could either stand a chance to offend the non-religious people who don't want to hear about any church doctrines and then I take a chance of offending people who believe in God.

See? It's kinda fucked all the way around. In fact, in the Pirates movie, the second one (Dead Man's Chest), there's a scene where Davy Jones asks a dying man if he wants to sign with him for 100 years instead of going into the great unknown. In the theatre version, the man says, he'll put his trust in God (as he holds up his bible).

People (the secularists/non-religious people) got completely up in arms about that and Disney took it out of the DVD version where the man says he'll just take his chances.

WTF? I liked the scene the way it was as it showed this man's faith. Oh well. *shrugs*
