I will be in New York at the end of August....
So I just saw this movie Friday night and I have so many questions and thoughts regarding it:

If you have a chance to see it where you live (it's like playing in one theatre per city), SEE IT!!!

Like I said, I still have thoughts and concerns about some of the plot. If you have seen it and wish to talk about it, send me a private message. I don't want to get into it here because of the spoilers.

Hubby and I are still talking about it and have come up with all these different scenarios.

Seriously, if you are looking for a movie to watch, GO SEE THIS!!!

I hope everyone's 4th of July was good for them. We usually have a 5 to 6 family gathering with a HUGE picnic and fireworks my hubby buys. He puts on quite a show. This year, because a BIG family illness with my neighbor and because the flood took out most of their grassed in area, my family just kept it to our property and ourselves.

We still set off mortars and some huge fireworks, (with the little fireworks for the kids to play with) just not the usual but it was kind of nice all the same.

And now regarding my opening topic, I will be in New York around the last week of August for anyone who might be interested in getting together one day. Just a thought.

BBQ, booze and blowtorches (to set off the fireworks) - now that's life! :)

I wish you lived there too. Well, I'm always in Washington state so if you ever visit here, I'll take you to anywhere you want to go. :) (If you were a Twin Peaks lover, I'd take you to all the places where they filmed).

I saw "Moon" back in January and loved it! I think it's a real throwback to classic stuff like "2001" or "Dark Star".

January? Whoa. (Was that at Sundance?)

I love Gerty and love that the only resemblance he has to Hal is the voice (Kevin Spacey was awesome as the voice).

I was thinking 2001 and Bladerunner and maybe a little Silent Running. I love the morality issues this movie brings up.

Yes, it premiered at Sundance - Rockwell & the director were present for the Q&A afterward. Trudie Styler was one of the producers, so Sting and David Bowie were there as well, which was also amazing of itself. And I typed "Dark Star" but I totally meant Bruce Dern in "Silent Running" - you are right on the money! Is that even on DVD? It has been YEARS since I've seen that movie.

I grew up wanting to have furniture like Space 1999's Moonbase Alpha (maybe a little less orange!) so I really loved the design of the film too - hard to believe the budget was relatively low for that look and the effects.

I also loved the fact that even though you could see the plot twist coming, it was done so well that it still felt fresh at the end.

I read a review of this and really want to see it.

Then coincidentally I found out that a friend of my daughter's works for the digital house that created the effects etc for this movie - he said that he was really hoping that David Bowie would show up - but he didn't. He also said that his son was a really nice guy.

Have you seen it yet?

David Bowie is a sweetheart. We saw him in concert when the girls were younger and Bowie waved to Megan (she was only 10 at the time). It was so cute!

How's the epic sci fi story going? I haven't read any orlibean all summer (actually, I haven't read anything come to think of it).

Nope we missed the movie - it didn't show at the cinema close to home and it's been too hectic this summer to do anything that wasn't simple. There's always DVD though...

I'm posting the sci-fi story just posted chapter 8 yesterday, I'm posting weekly so feel free to catch up :)I used your idea with the medi-droid which seemed to go down well :)

ETA - your suggestions also meant that I changed things around too and wrote a prologue to the whole thing which explains a lot of the reasons for the invasion too - so your comments were really helpful - thanks!

Sorry I'm so late on this (I seem to be saying that a lot lately).

Queens. She's going to St John's college there. But I didn't go to New York. Hubby drove her and my son cross country and I stayed home with the rest of the kids and the business. :)

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you. Hubby, Megan and I decided it would be best (especially since she had so much stuff to take) that he drive her and Griffon to New York on an insane cross country outing. I'm here at home.

But I would have seriously love to have met you! :) (See my latest post for what was happening). Are you on facebook?

No, unfortunately. Another time. Regards . Sarah
